We want the audition process to be welcoming, encouraging, and easy to navigate. Here's how it works:

Sign up for an audition time slot using our online form.

Auditions will consist of group cold reads from the script.

You may be asked to read for multiple characters.

If callbacks are needed, info will be communicated via email.

What to Expect

Auditions will consist of group cold reads from the script. No monologue or prepared material is required.

Wear something you can move in. You may be asked to read sides and/or participate in movement.

Bring a list of any known conflicts from October through December.

You may be asked to read for multiple characters, so come ready to have fun and make bold choices!

Roles are available for performers ages 6 and up.

The Role of Beth Bradley

has been pre-cast.

Character ages are general guidelines. Performers may be considered for roles outside the listed ranges if they can appropriately portray the character.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsal schedule will be announced following casting.

GRACE BRADLEY

(Female, 30+yrs)

A main role who takes over the annual Christmas pageant. Mother to Beth and Charlie; wife to Bob.

RALPH HERDMAN

(Male, 12-13yrs)

The oldest Herdman; ragged, scroungy, slouching, with a touch of adolescent cool.

GLADYS HERDMAN

(Female, 7-8yrs)

Small, wiry, and feisty. Often funny; sometimes means it.

OLLIE HERDMAN

Male/Female, 8-9yrs

Boy or girl. Always looking for trouble and Claude's usual partner in crime.

REVEREND HOPKINS

(Male, 40+yrs

A pastor who is nervous about almost everything.

MRS. CLARK

(Female, 35 - 60+yrs)

A pleasant, motherly woman.

MAXINE

(Female, 10-11yrs)

Beth's church Sunday school classmate.

ADDITIONAL ROLES

Angel Choir members, baby angels, shepherds, and other ensemble roles.

IMOGENE HERDMAN

Female, 11-12 yrs

Loud, bossy, tough, and crafty. The Herdman leader.

Grace's husband and father to Beth and Charlie. A solid family man.

LEROY HERDMAN

Male, 10-11yrs

Tough and very sure of himself.

ALICE WENDLEKEN

(Female, 10-11yrs)

Prim, proper, and a pain in the neck.

MRS. McCARTHY

(Female, 40-50yrs)

A younger, less imperious version of Mrs. Armstrong.

MRS. CLAUSING

(Female, 35 - 60+yrs)

A pleasant, motherly woman.

HOBIE & DAVID

(Males, 7-10yrs)

Additional children's' roles.

BETH BRADLEY - PRECAST

(Female, 10-12yrs)

The show's narrator and Grace and Bob's daughter. A lead role requiring a strong voice and stage presence.

Beth's brother — the typical kid brother.

Tough and combative. Ollie's partner in crime.

MRS. ARMSTRONG

(Female, 50+yrs)

Managerial in voice and manner; large, bossy, and impatient.

MRS. SLOCUM

(Female, 35-60+yrs)

A pleasant, motherly woman.

ELMER

(Male, 12-13yrs)

The minister's son; dislikes church and isn't fond of the Herdmans.

BEVERLY, JUANITA & DORIS
