From the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation, The Producers, comes this monster new musical comedy. The comedy genius, Mel Brooks, adapts his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation – Young Frankenstein!

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

Every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original as it will be to newcomers, Young Frankenstein has all the of panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added. It will surely be the perfect opportunity for a production company to showcase an array of talents. With such memorable tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment.

Auditions on Saturday April 17, 1 and 2 pm; Monday and Tuesday April 19-20, 7:00 and 8 pm

Males and females, teens and up (a few parts for younger children no younger than 7). Those ages late teens and up through all ages adults are especially encouraged to audition, although there are roles for those younger as well in the ensemble.

Please prepare 16 bars of preferably musical theatre song, but any song is fine as long as it showcases what you can do! An accompanist will be provided; please bring sheet music in the appropriate key for your audition.

Cold readings from the script will also be conducted, with a possibility of callbacks. A movement/choreography combination will be taught. Dance experience is a plus but not necessary—we will teach you what you need to know within your ability. Veteran performers AND newcomers encouraged to audition! This is a community theatre production, so all are welcome, but understand that quality of the finished product will definitely be expected and is not going to be compromised—great experience for all. This is indeed a dynamic and absolutely exciting show you want to be a part of. For questions you may e-mail the director, Michael R. Bridges mbridges6231@gmail.com

We are happy that many of the COVID-19 restrictions are lightening up. To err on the side of caution at least at this time), we will still be following the protocols in this way for auditions as we did with last year’s musical.

A controlled maximum number (10) will only be allowed in the theatre at a time. Check-in, waiting area, and audition space will be arranged to ensure this.
You are encouraged to sign-up in advance so that we may control the number that we are anticipating at a given time. There, it is highly advised to contact Debbie Landry by email or phone to let us know which date and hour frame would work best for you; On Saturday, April 17 the beginning time frames will be at 1 pm. and 2 pm.; on Monday and Tuesday, April 20 and 21, the beginning time frames will be 7 pm and 8 pm. An audition form may also be completed in advance (attached by this link). Please bring and/or e-mail a headshot and resume as well if you have one.
Whether you pre-register or not, you need to check-in at the designated point at the LAC Theatre when you arrive. At that time we will give you details on options on where to wait. You will be notified in some way (in person, text, etc.) when to enter the audition area. There will be volunteers/staff to guide you through the logistics and ensure everything stays safe.
Should you feel strongly about opting for a video audition, please let Debbie know that as well, and we will try to make arrangements (we STRONGLY prefer in person if at all possible). INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!
