On August 26 at 7:30 pm the Leeds Arts Council will host the Birmingham Wind Ensemble’s tribute to Mr. DeWitt Self, retired band director for Leeds High School for 35 years. Mr. Self was also the former conductor of the Birmingham Wind Ensemble for 12 years. In December of 2013, Mr. Self decided to retire for a second time.
The Birmingham Wind Ensemble is an all-volunteer group of musicians that perform modern and traditional music in the concert band repertoire. Entering it’s 20th year, the Birmingham Wind Ensemble has firmly established itself as a cultural organization in the Birmingham area. The BWE is under the current direction of Mr. Jack Rudisell, a Leeds native and former student of Mr. Self.

The Leeds Arts Council is proud to announce the appearance of Alan Tedders and Terry Padgett as “Willie and Waylon” on Friday, August 14 at 7:00 pm. The Outlaws are back!
Since February 2014, Terry and Alan have performed several times as the legends’ duo in Alabama and Tennessee. Most recently and notably in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the Cyrus Family Theatre and The the Tribute Theatre off Stoplight #3 in Pigeon Forge and at Wears Valley Music Barn in Sevierville.
Tickets are $20.00. Seating will be around tables with eight people seated at each table. You may purchase individual tickets at $20 each or purchase a table for $160. The OUTLAWS say to dress in your best western apparel.

The Leeds Arts Council, Inc. will honor artist Charles L. Smith (Charlie) with an opening reception on Sunday, July 5, 2015, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to meet the artist and view his beautiful oil paintings and photos and models of his amazing sculptural works There is no charge.
Most of Charlie’s paintings are realistic and feature a variety of subjects – landscapes, water, sky, still life, and more than a few “critters.” The photos and models will feature three of his military sculptural works.
